The Psychology of Quality and More |
Shigeo ShingoShigeo Shingo is a lesser-known quality guru, possibly because he concentrated on the less glamorous manufacturing production rather than management. He rose to fame at Toyota, where he worked with Taichi Ohno, where his main contributions include Poka-Yoke (mistake-proofing), rapid machine changeover that enabled flexible manufacturing, and several forms of inspection. Utah State University offer an annual 'Shingo Prize' for excellence in manufacturing. Shingo died in November 1990 at the age of 81. See also:Poka yoke, Rapid changeover, Inspection |
