Timeliness

Timeliness is a common metric that is used to indicate the success of a process in terms of on-time delivery, producing outputs when customer or successor processes require them.

Timeliness and accuracy often appear together as a common pair of measures, where accuracy indicates that the item is built correctly.

Timeliness does not always appear in process specifications and this lack can cause later problems when production does not meet demand. In a sequential process, this can be particularly problematic, as a single slow process holds up all subsequent processes and is likely to constrain the takt time.
