The Activity Network is generally used o schedule dependent activities within a plan.

Notes

The Activity Network is sometimes called an Arrow Diagram or PERT Chart, where PERT stands for Programmed Evaluation Review Technique. The Activity Network is one of the second seven tools.

There are special computer programs for working with Activity Networks, which are often referred to as Project Management software. These perform the critical path calculation, along with other tasks such as leveling and cost calculations.
